It always tough for me to pick my 10 most anticipated games for the year. Mainly because it’s so difficult to know for sure what will be coming out this year. Uncharted 4 isn’t a for sure, same as Tom Clancy’s The Division. Kingdom Hearts III belongs in this as well. Potentially the unannounced new Mass Effect game could come out this year. However, I was able to compile a list of ten games I am most excited about for 2014. I stayed away from the yearly franchises of Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty, although I will probably pick up at least Assassin’s Creed. Here are my top 10 of 2014:
10. World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor- Blizzard (Release Date: Q3 2014)
It’s a bit unusual to start off with an MMO expansion, but as a bit of an MMO junkie I have a feeling I’ll end up getting this and trying it out. With new character models, another +10 level cap increase (finally) and new game features like the build-your-own-garrison feature are certainly things I would really like to try out. Anticipation Level: 3.75 out of 5
9. Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor- Monolith Productions (Release Date: Q4 2014)
I am a big fan of the LOTR books and movies. I love the universe and I have always been interested in the time between the two books. Shadows of Mordor allows us to have the experience with a half man half wraith Ranger named Talion. There isn’t a lot of information out on this game yet, but I have high hopes for it. Anticipation Level: 3.8 out of 5
8. The Witcher III: Wild Hunt CD Projekt RED (Release Date: Q4 2014)
I have been meaning to play the first two titles in this series, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet. However, that doesn’t mean I am not excited for the final chapter in Geralt’s story. CD Projekt RED has done amazing things with this series and I am truly excited to see how far they can take this with an open world. Anticipation Level: 4 out of 5
7. Watch Dogs- Ubisoft (Release Date: Q2 2014)
This game has me very nervous. It has the potential to really advance video games with the ability for players to jump into other player’s worlds and potentially really mess things up. I am hopeful for the storyline and the new hacking mechanics being implemented. Should be a very interesting ride, here’s to hoping it won’t get delayed again. Anticipation Level: 4.1 out of 5
6. Infamous: Second Son- Sucker Punch (Release Date: 03/21/2014)
Being a former Xbox owner, I never got the chance to play any of the Infamous games before this one. So I am really excited that they are revamping the series with a new character and a new storyline. Open worlds are usually tons of fun, and I will probably spend a whole lot of time within the open world of Seattle. I just hope there is still some of it left standing when I get done with it. Anticipation Level: 4.3 out of 5
5. Thief- Square Enix (Release Date: 02/25/2014)
The revamp of this series is something I am unfamiliar with. I haven’t played a Thief game before. I am however, excited about the concept of stealth without killing. The name of the game here is stealing, not slaughter, and I am excited for a new experience with my stealth genre experience. Anticipation Level: 4.5 out of 5
4. Dragon Age: Inquisition- Bioware (Release Date: Q3 2014)
I cannot tell you how happy I was when I found out that Bioware was coming back with the Dragon Age series. I easily put 300+ hours into Origins and probably around 100 hours into Dragon Age II even though it was lackluster in comparison. With the implementation of Inquisition coming with the next gen consoles, my biggest worry is how they will implement continuation of save files. As long as I can reflect my choices from the previous games though, I’ll be a happy Bioware maniac. Anticipation Level: 4.75 out of 5
3. The Order: 1886- Ready At Dawn (Release Date: Q4 2014)
Victorian London? Big fan. Supernatural Half-Breeds? Big fan. King Authur’s Court? Big fan. Steampunk Style? Big fan. This game is literally setting itself up to be one of my favorite games of the year just by its style and storyline. I sincerely hope this game doesn’t get delayed and pushed back to 2015. I am seriously excited for this game to come out and to learn more about The Order. It also reminds me a bit of Sherlock Holmes, which is never a bad thing. Anticipation Level: 4.85 out of 5
2. Elder Scrolls Online- Zenimax Online (Release Date: 04/04/2014)
It’s Elder Scrolls. It’s an MMO. It’s something I have desperately dreamed of for years (that and a Mass Effect MMO.) With the option for third or first person views and the implementation of traditional TES combat style and not just button mashing and shot rotations, I feel like this game with challenge my RPG skill a lot more than any other this year, especially when other players are counting on me. Anticipation Level: 4.9 out of 5
1. Destiny- Bungie (Release Date: 09/09/2014)
Drool. That’s literally what I’ve been doing since last February. I love the art style. I love the clashing of RPG and FPS genres. I love the integration of online co-op and competitive experiences. The unique weapons remind me a bit of Borderlands. I cannot wait to explore our solar system, customize my ship, reveal the secrets of the Traveler and many other things when this comes out. And best of all, Bungie has committed itself to this game for the next 10 years! Drool. Anticipation Level: 5 out 5

Good choices. I’m really excited for a lot of these as well. Watch Dogs and Infamous the most probably.
I am really looking forward to both. I played Prototype on 360 before and was told inFAMOUS is a better interation of prototype. That’s good because that game had a lot of untapped potential.
Just thinking about Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor gives me butterflies – can’t wait for some new info!
Have you read the wikia? Apprently they are going to be taking ideas from the community to put in the story.
